Fellowship Overview

The West African Scholar Mobility Fellowship (WASMF) 2025 is a valuable opportunity for young West African scholars to conduct research in their home countries while pursuing their doctoral studies in the United States. The fellowship provides financial support and fosters transatlantic collaboration, enabling scholars to contribute to the academic and research landscape in West Africa.

  4. Be at the pre-dissertation stage.

  5. Demonstrate financial need.

 

Application Procedure

Interested candidates in the West African Scholar Mobility Fellowship must submit their applications online by completing the online application form here.


📂 To apply for the West African Scholar Mobility Fellowship, you will need to provide the following materials:

  1. An abstract (50-80 words).

  2. A proposal (6 pages – double spaced).

  3. Resume or CV.

  4. Graduate transcripts (scan and upload official transcripts).

  5. Submit an itemized budget (including estimated costs for housing, food, travel, equipment, printing/photocopying, and institutional affiliation fees).

  6. Two letters of reference signed by the recommender.

  7. Statement explaining how your research will contribute to the mission of WARA


✨ The proposal statement should describe the concept, methodology and the significance of the proposed research project to the applicant’s academic field, and how this research contributes to the objectives of the West African Research Association.
